After a 3 month blogging hiatus, I am back! There have been a lot of changes in the last few months and I have been barely keeping up with real life, let alone the cyber-world. Today I will make a feeble attempt to catch up.
The main reason for my blog-absenteeism is that for most of October, November and December I was feeling pretty much like death. I was so sick all of the time and barely had the energy to shower. L's most frequently used phrase was, "No Mama night-night!". It is amazing how much one tiny little fetus can drain you! Yep, I am pregnant! We will welcome #2 into the world in June of this year. This is old news to most of you, I am sure. I am 18 weeks along now and feeling like myself again (only larger). We have our big ultrasound next week and we are hoping to find out gender at that appointment. Stay tuned!
The other big change is that I started working. I am working M-F, with 2 half days per week. I really like the schedule and for the most part I love the job. The learning curve for being an NP working independently is steep, and I have moments where I just feel paralyzed by my own inadequacies, but overall I think it going well. The patients and families are great, my coworkers have been very welcoming and I feel so lucky to have gotten such a great job working in pediatric primary care so quickly after moving here.
We were able to go back to CA for 2 weeks in December, which was great. It made me even more homesick to be back and then have to leave again, but I was so happy to see all of our awesome family and friends. We were way too busy with social and family commitments, but it was worth it to be able to catch up with everyone. Being so far away really makes me realize what a blessing and privilege having such a close-knit and supportive group of family and friends is. This also makes me really nervous about having a 2 1/2 year old and a newborn this summer with all of our people 2200 miles away.
So...plan a visit! Arkansas is lovely in the summer- 105 degrees and humid, what's not to love? Come stay with us! And be prepared to change diapers!
