Despite duplicating nomenclature, we had a great visit and were very sad to say goodbye to Sara on Friday morning. My sister and I mostly just stuck around Bentonville and tried to stay cool. We went swimming at a pool in Bella Vista, a town with a bunch of private pools and golf courses, which was very different from the Bentonville public pool we visited before. We basically had a big baby pool (1 ft deep) to ourselves for most of the afternoon. I kept meaning to get Lucas in swimming lessons this summer but it never happened, but despite the lack of instruction he was a champ, splashing, dunking his face and even attempting to float on his back independently. That last trick didn't go so well, but no permanent damage!
Now many of you know that a big factor AGAINST moving here was the fact that there is no frozen yogurt in Bentonville or Rogers (Bentonville:Rogers as Santa Rosa: Rohnert Park, fyi). Yep- NO FROZEN YOGURT. Now, before you start to cry, I have good news. A brand new self-serve fro yo place just opened up in Fayetteville, so on Tuesday we drove down (up? I don't know where the heck it is!) to check it out. The fro yo was decent, topping selections satisfying and the tables spin! So we loved it. University of Arkansas must be just starting the Fall semester, because Dickson street was crawling with students and we saw lots of people with cars loaded up, moving in to dorms and frat houses. While in Fayetteville, we also hit up some of the cute boutiques and I was very pleasantly surprised. I scored some knee high boots that were only $45! They do smell very strange, but hey, they are cute and cheap! On our way back home we went out for Mexican food. I will say more about the food in another blog post (trying to build some anticipation...), but suffice it to say that Mexican food here is different. Not necessarily bad, but definitely different.
Saying goodbye to Sara was hard. We don't have another visit planned yet, and I hate saying goodbye to people not knowing when I will see them next. I am hoping to get over to Minnesota before Lucas turns 2 (last chance for a free flight!) to visit.
Now that my dad and Sara are gone, the house feels huge! And empty :(
Here are some pics of our visit with Pop-Pop and Da-Da:
