First visitors!

Yesterday afternoon Lucas and I made the long, 15 minute trek out to the NWA airport to pick up my Dad, who is visiting for the weekend en route to Washington DC for some very important conference for very important people such as him. We were so happy to see him, especially Lucas (the loud talking Tonka truck that Pop-Pop brought him as a gift helped warm up his welcome).

We stopped at Table Mesa, one of the 2 restaurants on the square in downtown Bentonville, for dinner. Yes, it is called Table Mesa. Yes, I know that means Table Table. Let's move on. It is one of the nicer, more yuppie places to eat here, and I was very curious to try it. It had an interesting menu, great service and fun drinks! Unfortunately, I ordered cheese enchiladas...and then remembered that I do not care for enchiladas. At all. Good thing I also ordered sweet potato fries. And that the sweet potato fries came with a side of "dulce de leche" dipping sauce, aka straight caramel. Nice.

Today we went to the Farmer's Market and picked up some goodies, then my dad, Lucas and I went to the grocery store to pick up a few items. The checker was awesome. I hadn't been able to find ricotta cheese, so I asked her where it was. She looked at me as if I were speaking another language, and said, "is that some sort of deli cheese? My cheese knowledge starts and ends with cheddar and mozzarella". Then during the check-out process, a wild, shrieking alien took over my sweet son's body, so I reminded him to use his indoor voice. The checker asked me (as Lucas was still yelling), "does that work?". I said "no, not really...but he is only 21 months", She responded, "it doesn't work on my boy either" "And how old is your son?", I asked. "14". Then, after locating the precious ricotta and paying, my dad commented that Lucas was ready for a nap. The checker just sighed and said, "so am I".

After grocery shopping, the little monster went down for a nap so my dad and I ventured out to one of my most reviled stores...Bed Bath and Beyond. As we stood in the aisles stacked with linens 40 feet high, I was reminded of one of Aziz Ansari's bits on sheet shopping and thread counts. If you haven't seen his stand-up, you need to watch it on you tube immediately. It will probably change your life. (Be prepared for adult language). Anyways, despite NOT having a 20% off coupon (yes, I am that sucker that is probably the only person in the world without one of those giant blue coupons at my house), I found the duvet cover, euro shams, and throw pillows that I have been needing to complete our new bedding ensemble. We are going with a citron yellow, grey and cream color scheme, in case you were wondering.

When we got home, we had a huge treat waiting for us...SARA!!!!!!!!!! We knew she was driving in today to visit on her way back to Minnesota, but she got up early and made super good time, arriving around 3 pm! I am so happy to have my dad and sister here in the new house with us.

Tonight, we went to Olive Garden for dinner. Let me tell you, there have been many times being here when I wondered where all the people were. Most restaurants, parks and shops are all generally deserted most of the time. Well, now I know where everyone in Arkansas hangs out. The Olive Garden. Obviously. It was packed, but we still managed to have a good time. Now, we are just relaxing in the castle, and it feels so good to have a full house.

Tomorrow- to Fayetteville! Then, Dad leaves for his conference but Sara is staying until Thursday so we will have lots of time to explore and have adventures...and I can finally go get that pedicure I so desperately need! Hurray for sisters/babysitters!
